Hi Everyone,
Carolyn M. Parks invited Sara and I back to her show on 104.9 The Beach www.104.9thebeach.ca (we appeared there just before the tour) to talk about our trip out West and Autism awareness.
Carolyn had some great questions and Sara enjoyed the chance to talk about the trip. Some interesting tidbits that Carolyn brought out in the interview...
How did we stay entertained during all of the long hours in the van...
Sara had her collection of movies and portable dvd player (well a small portion of 20 or so anyways 80), her ipod and a few books that she likes to look through. We all talked and joked about things and had a few competitions (what colour the 50th car that passed us would be ...etc...). Ryan and Talia had their mp3 players and lots of travel activities (including a dvd player). We all really enjoyed the scenery... plus we napped a lot (except the driver of course!).
What was our purpose...
To give families a lift, create more Autism awareness and celebrate gifts, talents and "Possibilities". Many of the responses to our performances demonstrate that our message was well received.
What are we doing now...
Building towards the Eastern segment of the tour .. which will be this October.. and performing in some Ontario locations... including a Blue Jays Game (vs the Yankees) at the Rogers Center this Wednesday. Working on more resources (including web based materials) for families... finalizing our new cds production.. (which includes Over The Rainbow, Wonderful World and a couple of original songs) ..
What were the highlights...
For Sara the scenery.. especially the Rockies were a big one... the adventure of traveling and seeing new places
What was the traveling like...
Amazing and fun... we had a great team along with us for the tour who all had fun and appreciated the chance to travel... Sara loved the travel time too .. and when asked by Carolyn couldn't think of anything about the traveling that bothered her! Me either... it was a once in a lifetime journey for all of us!
I'll post some pics and updates from the Blue Jays Game later this week.
Thanks to Carolyn and 104.9 The Beach for the opportunity to talk about our project and the Western portion of our tour! It's always fun dropping by to chat at the station!
