Kaleidoscope Ride

Off to the Rockies and B.C.

Although I had traveled out West with my family as a girl .. I had never been actually in the Rockies other than a side trip to Banff. 

Sara and all of us thought they were pretty amazing... our van handled the slopes pretty well and we took tons of pics..  Although I'll tell you I was thankful for good breaks going down some of them... everything (including me) seemed to be sliding forward in the van! 

Sara, being the adventurer that she is, thought it was pretty cool.. and smiled pretty much the whole way through them!

 

Here are some of them for those of you following us through the blog..

We are now in New Westminster B.C. and preparing for our two performances in Queens Park here.  Our host for this concert is Community Living Burnaby - our performance times are 12:30 pm and 7 p.m. (in case you know of anyone here who might like to attend). 

The forecast is perfect and we have a great band shell to set up in tomorrow.   We are looking forward to meeting more families and singing about "possibilities"!

Calgary Kaleidoscope Concert

It was a perfect day for both the BBQ and the concert.  A canopied stage area was set up for us in the grass..

We had a great evening's rest (thanks to Steve, Mavis and family) and a hearty breakfast and then headed off into the mountains and our B.C. performance.

Thanks to everyone who attended our Calgary performance - we had a terrific time!

Touring through Northern Ontario...

Hi Everyone,

We're well into our Kaleidoscope Tour - many miles on the van already - and 3 concerts under our belt!  Traveling weather has been awesome and every stop has been terrific.

Our first concert was part of the Canada Day activities in Parry Sound - we were right down on the waterfront - and many of the vendors and audience were dancing along as we played our tunes!  We stayed that evening in the "house on the Hill" courtesy of Community Living Parry Sound - and enjoyed cruising around the city, checking out the Canada Day activities and watching some fabulous fireworks that evening.

Concert number two was in Sault Ste. Marie for Autism Ontario - Sault Ste. Marie chapter.  We performed for many families in the region - and were treated to some wonderful finger foods and munchies.  They enjoyed the concert and message of "possibilities" with Sara receiving a standing ovation at the end!  We were fortunate to stay with an awesome family in the area and made some new friends.

This evening's concert was in Thunder Bay.  Again we played for families - hosted by Autism Ontario - Sault Ste. Marie chapter.  They fed us a wonderful supper and then enjoyed the Kaleidoscope performance afterwords!   We will be giving another performance on our way back through Thunder Bay on July 22nd.

We've had some adventures already - towing the van through the hills between Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay (although the van is handling them well)!  We had to track down our van magnets provided by Autism Canada in Parry Sound - as they had ended up in that region and then been delivered to the wrong location - luckily we had a GPS to help find them.

Then we were without internet for a couple of evenings - so were unable to update you on our adventures! 

Our tour team consists of Roger Williamson (lead guitar), Brian Mole (drums), Talia Williamson (bass) and Ryan Williamson (who is manning the info/merchandise table for us).  Sara and I are glad to have them helping us on this tour - and we are all having fun with our travels!

Thanks so much to all of those who have helped us raise dollars towards and plan for this journey - it is amazing.  We are seeing the many "smiles" on families faces when they hear our music and message!

On The Road...

In a few hours Sara, I and our tour team will be hitting the road (5:45 am - yikes!) to head to our first performance in Parry Sound.

We will be performing as part of their Canada Day Festivities on the Waterfront! 

It's hard to believe we are actually here (being Paisley, ON) and heading out on our Kaleidoscope Ride this morning.  So many friends, our family, associates, businesses, Autism Canada and our community have supported our efforts to get here.  We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to take our message of "possibilities" and Autism Awareness across Western Canada. 

There is excitement building about our performances in each region and amongst our tour team at the journey ahead.  Our team members are Brian Mole (drums), Roger Williamson (lead guitar) and Talia Williamson (bass guitar).  We are very lucky to have such a talented group accompanying us (and they are great friends too)!
