Roses bring smiles and warmth to many. They could be a token of love, friendship, or good wishes. They can be long stem, floating in a pretty bowl, or a bouquet of some wild or tea roses. Whatever the choice, these flowers are very popular, and well received.
These blossoms come in a variety of colors, and some of these colors have special meaning. Here is a sampling:
Red: love
Yellow: friendship
White: Purity
Pink: Appreciation
Yellow: Friendship
White: Innocents
Lavender: Enchantment
Even though each has a meaning, it is not necessary to limit yourself to one flower for an occasion. If the receiver loves roses, but does not like yellow, then, by all means, choose buds of a different color. If you are buying roses for the scent, it is best not to buy a hybrid, because hybrid plants have little to no fragrance.
Not all roses are created equal, so if growing roses is your goal, then take a little time to understand the needs of the flowers that you have chosen. Take, for instance, the wild rose. Here is a little flower that needs little care. Some of them are not actually wild, but were planted in old gardens, and have managed to stand without any maintenance.
The true wild rose is just what the name implies. These are more accurately called the ‘species rose’. They are called wild, because they are just what the name implies, a natural rose that needs no man. These little blooms always have 5 petals.
The China Roses of today are quite small. They are an interesting addition to the garden, because of their ability to change colors from yellow buds, mature to red, orange, and pink. This is a true eye catcher.
There are few flowers that will thrill like these beauties. If you grow your own, or buy them at the flower shop, Roses tell a story.
